Afrikaans: Op hierdie jaar se padtoer vanaf Boulder, Colorado, na Hood River, Oregon, is ek eindelik met 'n week se onoortrokke lug en melkwegvistas beloon. Nogmaals kon ek my klassieke trok-en-selfportretfoto's beproef en my vriend Pierce was gelukkig beskikbaar om die voorgrond met lig te skilder.
Goeie nagskote is my voorliefde. Die uitdaging is om die Melkweg en voorgrond met paslike beligting, detail en perspektief vas te vang. Hierdie keer het ek dus probeer om die ISO tot 8000 te verhoog sonder om my aan die growwer grynkwaliteit te steur. Nuuskierig om te sien wat julle dink! Die standaard vertorama bestaan uit 6 landskapskote wat vertikaal gestapel is. Die bopunt word deur 160 grade van die onderste geskei, sodat atmosferiese waas weereens manifesteer namate jy die horison nader. 'n Reusebeeld met ander woorde, sowat 10 voet hoog op volle resolusie! English: On this year's road trip from Boulder, CO to Hood River, OR, I finally got a good week of black sky and milky way ops. This was one of my first nights, doing my classic truck-and-me-self-portrait, though I luckily had my buddy Pierce along to do some light painting in the foreground. I've always been pretty stymied by taking good night shots. Nothing really seems to get the Milky Way and foreground subject with the right illumination, detail, perspective etc. So this time I tried boosting the ISO to 8000 and just saying to hell with the noise. Curious to see what y'all think! This was a standard vertorama, comprising of 6 landscape style shots stacked vertically. The top is actually about 160 degrees from the bottom shot, and you can see the atmospheric haze re-assert itself as I near the horizon again. So this thing is huge! Like 10 feet tall at full res.
