تشريحPetroglyph of a aurochs (a large ox) from that era (37074580146).jpg
Petroglyph of a aurochs (a large ox, now extinct) from that era. This is probably the clearest of the many petroglyphs in existence at the site- many of them have got obscured beyond recognition. Gobustan was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Sitein 2007 as it was considered to be of outstanding universal value for the quality and density of its rock art engravings. The sit is also known for the substantial collection of rock art images representing hunting, fauna, flora and lifestyles in prehistoric times, as well as for the cultural continuity between the prehistoric and medieval times which the site reflects.
